I'm NOT a CW op and I've never played on TV. When the teams were announced I got e-mails
warning me of a pirate! BUT I have only 2 New Year's resolutions...Become a "competent" CW contest op
and date only super models. I've been working with several CW tutor software packages and its starting to click.
For training, MorseRunner, a CQ WPX simulator is great.

My plan was to start on 20, go to 40 early and finish the last 2 hr on 80 going to 10/15 if there was activity.
The 10/15 part worked out but slow. I was so happy to see these bands "open" I stayed to long on 15. The jump to 40
was to early. After an hour of slow rates moved back to 20. Then I was late back to the party on 40. My rates on 40 were great and waited until the last hour to jump to 80 for the multis. Another mistake...giving up a great Q rate for lots of
CA Qs. I figure a 100 Q impovement with better planning and less breaks for dips in the pool. A little help from Ole Sol
would be nice.

Earlier this year I added the Inrad roofing filter and I could really hear the dif on 40. The mod made it ez to work next to
strong signals without swamping the passband and ez'er to elbow into a clear freq. I highly recommend this upgrade.

At dusk, I was treated to a real "Wild America" show. Osama bin Bunny and a minion bunny breached the
Fence of Death to sup on my veggie garden. The boys were sacked out in the shack BUT their Dog-Dar went into
high PRF and they were out in a shot. Like a team of Army Rangers, Meko, east blocking the exit, Sparky west
around the pool flushing out the minion who panicked ...BANG CRUNCH Meko tastes victory. Sparky moves
to the garden and at the corn goes into a sniper-stalk to bring a tear to gunny's eye. Meko as forward observer barks out targeting info. Cornered in the tomatoes bin Bunny made a stand and does a "Jimmy Carter" charging the pup hoping for chance to make a break. The kid is unfazed. He's a 7th level, black fur, TaekwonDog master and has a Costco size can of WupAss. Decades of hunting rabbits I've never heard one scream like that!!! Tossed out in the open bin Bunny got to meet Meko and his bag of YoMamma. The EvilOne was tormented for some time before he succumbs in a game of Tug-o-War. Here is where I'm treated to the "Blood Dance of the Cave Wolf." Impressive..I almost stood up and howled. Ready for what came next...Presentation of the trophies to the Master...the trash can was ready. Crunch some kibble and a hearty slurp from the porcelain goblet and it's couch time. A great show AND a 78 per-hour rate, life is good.

Time to start the "first" batch of homebrew for CQP. That's for the KaySixZulu ops only!!!
Oh, I found bin Bunny's ears in the pool!
