After being away for three weeks, arrived at the station in San Luis Obispo  
just shortly before the contest started. The SteppIR control box was 
completely  dead, and remained that way. Fortunately for me the antenna had been left  
set on 20 meters, and giving up 15 and 10 was probably no big loss. Starting 
Sat  morning Write Log no longer recognized the frequency inputs from the  
transceiver. Finally arranged WL to accept manual frequency data whenever I  
changed bands - and remembered to tell it.
 
Condx were exceptional on 40 and 20 until about 02Z the second night,  when 
signals on 40 went down suddenly just as if the plug had been pulled. From  
then on it was a matter of grinding it out on all the bands.
 
After the contest was over, reloading WL eventually restored the  
functionality of the interface with the rig. Had to return immediately to Long  Beach, so 
fixing the SteppIR controller remains a work in progress.
