Comments:
While band conditions are slowly diminishing they are still pretty darn
good. Two hours before the start 15 was loaded with EU RTTY.
Started out on 15 and did very well. The move to 20 and 40 were timed well.
The jump to 80 was way early and I lost some time.
40 was again the standout with best Q/hr and Mult pre Qs. The last hour on
80 was very good with a super sprint at the finish. Didn't hear a thing on
10.
My move to the darkside is now complete...N1MM is fully functional!! This of
course completes a New Years res...upgrade to real contest
software. The move only took several months and numerous
installs/unintalls/loads and reloads and several headachs reading that
manual. Then it dawned on me...all those windows...it's all eye-candy!! The
entry window is the key. So I started with just that. By the end of the
first hour I had all kinds of displays, scrolls, info, bandmaps, logs and
scores festooning my poor laptop...editing macros on the fly...tuning the
VFO with the arrow keys Do "Spock" ears come with the package?? For RTTY
I found the {GRAB} feature worked very well for the call but was faster
logging the exch with the keyboard. I dislike moving between the mouse and
keyboard.
I was going to do a KISS setup for ARRL SSB DX with just 3 message keys but
now I'll be looking into the "letters" feature and lots of eye-candy. The
software does lack a few things...needs a function to control the temp on
the heating pad and the "eject wet canines" module.
Thanks to all who answered the call and to those cheerleaders ...luv being
spotted.
