Marty,

I can attest to the quality of these generators. I've done several 160
meter portable operations with mine (I have two). With two in parallel I
have been able to power an HF transceiver and a Drake L-7 (wired for
110V) running about 1 KW output with no problems:

The output waveform is a true sine that is well regulated (stiffer than
the 110V outlets in my house) with only a minimal amount of switching
noise. They do generate a bit of RFI (you can the small discrete steps
in the sine wave when you put it on a scope), but I was able to kill it
by wrapping the AC power cord around a couple of Type 31 ferrite
toroids. With those in place, the generator doesn't raise the noise
floor on 160, even when I was out at Saltdale where there is a minimal
amount of man made noise.

Acoustically, these things are amazingly quiet. The engineers at Honda
are magicians.
