Hi, all.

I'm just back from the ARRL Board meeting in CT and have this update from Mel K6SY, who is handlng the group purchase of Honda EU2000i generators. I'm glad to see this turned out to be such a popular offer. One of our Los Angeles ARES members, NA6MA, has offered to conduct a brief class on proper maintenance and storage of these generators. I'll announce that when it is scheduled.

Because I am still getting questions from doubters about the generator compliance with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) I have done some additional checking with a Vice President at American Honda Motor Co.

All Honda generators shipped to California or sold in California by Honda Dealers are required by American Honda Motor Co. to be CARB compliant. The differences are:

    Exhaust spark arrestor
    Fuel cap (carbon filter)
Fuel lines and fuel tank (different venting requirements)

I checked with the supplier. I was reassured that all units shipped to a California address on our order will be CARB compliant as required by American Honda Motor Co. I was also told that, very shortly, like all Honda cars, all generators sold anywhere in the USA will be CARB compliant. So in the future CARB compliance should not be an issue.

By the way, I now [July 15] have checks in hand for 30 units and e-mails indicating another 15 or so are on the way. I passes that information on the supplier this morning. He had about 15 CARB compliant units in stock and will order more today so he will be able to ship immediately upon receipt of our order. The units are fully warranty for three years. The units will be shipped FedEx, insured. There will need to be someone available to sign for them.

Mel - K6SY
