[SCCC] Is the IOTA Contest the most difficult DX Contest for Little Pistols?

I have tried the IOTA Contest for about 3 or 4 years now, and in my estimation, it
is the toughest contest for a 100 Watt station with wire antennas.
I don't know what it is about the IOTA Contest that is so difficult, but it seems
like there is a huge imbalance between the hand full of IOTA stations, and the
thousands of fixed stations trying to work them.
As a non-IOTA station, calling CQ doesn't work because I don't count for much.
So then I have to S&P and get caught up in those Monster pileups. I can eventually
crack most pileups in the CQ WW or ARRL DX contests, but some of these IOTA pileups are
impossible. And when I realize I have been yelling myself hoarse trying to work an
island in Texas, I begin to wonder if it is worth the effort.
Any tips or strategy for this contest would be appreciated. Anyone activating NA-066 this year?
73,
Tim K6GEP
