Not sure how much you are looking to store but for "larger" amounts, perhaps 
something like this:

There are also simpler solutions that are used by the recreational boat and 
off road folks. The ones I'm thinking of have a pump that screws into the 
storage container, and require a few pumps to get them going. Gravity takes 
over from there.
