Hi Mike,
Things to ponder:
- "If" you're thinking about a truck. Look for a stake bed with a lift
gate. That way you can simply use the lift to get them on and off the
truck. This would be an easy way, but not the cheapest
- As you noted, a U-Haul is probably too small. They say that the "Towed
Vehicle" can only have a maximum of a 133" wheelbase. So there would be too
much over hang.
- I've found that some trailer manufacturers have rentals available. So
an 18 foot car trailer would do it for you. I think those run around $85 a
day. Here in the San Diego market I found that info via Craig's List.
- You say that you have a Ford Ranger, is it the mid size model on the
older full size model? If it's the mid size model and you have many hills
to go over, it might be pretty tough. (overheating and such) So you might
consider borrowing a full size truck.
- Another thought is to find a "Budget" tow company with a "slide back"
truck. Yes, it may cost you more but it would be about the easiest way to
go. Said trucks have winches that will pull the towers on and at the other
end simply tilt it up and slide them off.
My two cents...

All the best,
Wild Bill
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams!
