Checkout the mighty Imperial Contest Group, K6QK. They have won the
Multi-Op HP County Expedition category for most of the past 15 years, and we
have the record. The core of the group are San Diego DX Club members. They
will be there again this weekend: Bud N7CW, Jim K6ZH, Dan N6ERD, Dave
N6EEG, and Paul NN6X. They are truly a County Expedition - they have an
antenna
trailer, and they set up at Desert View Tower along old Highway 80, about 70
miles east of San Diego (in Imperial County) for the duration of the
contest. Over the years they have endured just about every kind of Wx
malady
you can imagine - extremely high winds, really cold, really hot, huge
thunderstorms including torrential rain - in fact just about everything
except snow! Check out Bud's webpage: http://www.n7cw.com/about4.html

Subject: [SCCC] CQP this weekend
Hi guys, remember that the California QSO Party is this weekend. This is the
best time to get on the radio and feel like DX in the comfort of your own
shack.
Of note we have some normal top ten competitors getting on in the club.
W6TK will be driving his new Stepp-IR and Alpha 87 SO1R style from SLUI.
Dick can easily put the squeeze on the top 10 with a single radio and an
extensive history of operating skill.
K6LA will be using those F12's on multiple towers at his home QTH in LANG.
Ken should be able to continue hitting the top 5 and who knows, maybe top 3?
Not sure if K6AM will be dominating the in-state LP category from his single
tower home QTH in SDIE, but if he is we'll all hear John showing the world
why he is NA#6 Team Leader representing us all at the WRTC next summer. John
always has a serious ability to upset the HP crowd and sneak into a Top Ten
position without using a California KW.
K6Z will be back in operation this year. That's a conglomeration of a number
of SCCC/YCCC guys going up to W6PH's cabin for some MM County Expedition
style operating. Can these boys beat down the N6RO MM team? Last time they
nearly knocked them boys and their fixed 100+ foot towers down!
Who knows what will happen this time around... I mean this is the NCCC's
contest... they can't let a few Southerners and some Yankees beat them with
non-fixed equipment right?
But guys we have a huge battle about to occur!
N6ED will be piloting the K6NA super station for a Top 3 finish. Craig is a
normal top three finisher using Glenn's place. SO2R and a couple 140'
towers makes for a heck of a signal and score!
N6MJ will be using the N6WIN station with it's single tower. You guys might
remember the video on my website of Danny doing SO2R while playing Words
with Friends on his Samsung... this guy seems to have no limits on his
multi-tasking abilities. He will be setting a lofty goal of winning CA from
a single 54' tower station in SBER.
So the question for the top of the SCCC is, will Craig be able to snuff
Danny this time around? Danny and Craig had been going back and forth in
2001-2004 with each trading place for the first place finish. However, eight
straight 1st place finishes for Danny is riding on the line now...
what's going to happen in 2013?
Let's get in some good representation, big or small, for the SCCC and
support our NCCC friends in the finest state QSO party known to ham
operators. Get on and CQ wherever you find a clear frequency and test your
skills at running hams from all over the globe. After the dust settles don't
forget to submit your logs.
