[SCCC] JOTA 2013 (Oct 19-20)

Last year a small group from here assisted Chas (W6UM) out at the
Firestone Boy Scout Reservation for the JOTA event. This past May I
worked with our local club to set up a station for Orange County
Council's Shakeout Event, required prior to their National Jamboree in
VA. We have built up a relationship with Firestone and currently working
with LA Area Council to set up a station this year.

The people setting up W6B (Firestone last year) and K6B will not be
going to Firestone this year. However, K6B is returning to the USS Iowa.
Unless the LA Area Council has other plans, we will be the point station
at Firestone. I'm sure some of the local troops will set up their own
stations as well.

Using lessons learned from last year, we will work on securing a better
location. I'll be bringing my 106' tower trailer with a C3 and double
bazookas for 40 and 80. We'll also have a simple 3-ele on 6 unless I can
borrow a Innova from Chip. 2M/440 will be on FM for simplicity.

We have all the equipment, including generator and solar as a demo. We
may need bodies and/or ambassadors to talk to the Scouts! If you are
interested in working this event with us, please let me know.

The Date is October 19-20. Preliminary plans are to set up on Friday
afternoon and be on the air Friday night as well. Tear down happens
Sunday afternoon.

Location is Firestone Boy Scout Reservation in Brea (Tonner Canyon off
the 57 fwy). Save the date and let me know if you are interested. I
