One correction... That's 24# kraft paper, heavier than previously stated. I don't know what the 28 on the box means, but the web site and paperwork accompanying both say 24#.

The envelopes are made from 28# kraft paper, so they're fairly heavy and will protect your cards. They have no clasp, avoiding the USPS surcharge for that.
I've just about decided I'm going to the meeting at Arnie's on the 9th, so that would be a great time to get some envelopes if you're going too. You can also pick them up at the shop in Torrance, with a free tour of the Burchett Museum thrown in. Here's a taste of that:

Otherwise, you pay the shipping expenses.

I've just stocked up on #35 envelopes for use by the incoming bureau. They'd rather we buy theirs, at 80 cents each (includes a stamp, so, 31 cents for the envelope), but I've always sent in my own from the local stationery store. That store is long gone, though, and the envelopes are harder to find. So here I am with 500 envelopes, probably a lifetime supply, thinking I ought to share the bounty. If anyone's interested, I'll take 15 cents each for them (less than half the Bureau price). Add your own stamp and address label and send 'em in. Any takers?
