Gordon was an amazing man and contributor to our hobby. For years, I tried
to compete with him when he was W6ITA, then W6RR, but could never beat him.
It was a fun to operate his station in ARRL DX SSB about 40 years ago, and
as Dick wrote, to see him from time-to-time.
I recall the Fresno convention, in probably 1971, I was living in Santa
Maria, and Gordon and Warren Davis W6IBD picked me up and drove me to the
convention. I remember how great it was to be with two of the all-time
big-gun contesters from Southern California. First time I'd ever been in a
car with cruise control!!
I last spoke with Gordon about 3 months ago and he was clearly
struggling...........
But to make it to Age 95. Not too shabby.

Today's Los Angeles Times has an obituary of Gordon Marshall, W6RR.

Old friend that a group of us used to have lunch with occasionally, but
totally lost interest in radio in the past few years.

73,

Dick
