[SCCC] FD 1980

Dave - You mean, you had hair then?? :-)

My first FD was in 1964 with the Vandenberg AFB club, W6AB, (I lived in
Santa Maria, CA at the time). "My" radio was a KWM-2, a CW key, and a 15
meter dipole. I guess I did OK, but I just recall the amazement as a 15
year old, brand new ham, at the size of this multi-multi, hilltop operation.

73 - Jim, K6ZH (back then, WB6DPV)

Seeing those grainy B&W images reminded me of a 1970 FD picture that got
printed in QST:
http://wikisend.com/download/545904/FieldDay1970.jpg

Picture #5 on that page is W3LPL's XYL (Phyllis), and my XYL-to-be (Jacki),
gassing up the generator. This was at LPL's Crownsville, MD home. Frank
was K1LPL/3 at the time.

I remember that the film was Kodak Panatomic-X, ASA 25, in 35 mm.

See P 102 of the June QST for a pic of some SCCC members on Field Day. I
guess they didn't know it's not a contest. :) 'JK
