The universal serial bus cable carries rig control (CAT) via a
USB-TO-SERIAL converter in the 7600, as well as the USB sound card/codec in
the 7600 for the digital sound card modes like PSK31 and AFSK RTTY.
To do CW I use a Winkeyer on a separate USB/comport on the computer and
tell N1MM the proper port for the Winkeyer. The Winkeyer then feeds the CW
keying signal to the 7600's key input on the rear panel. N1MM tells the
Winkeyer what to send. This can be one of the N1MM CW memories or manual CW
from the computer's keyboard (CTRL+K?).
There are probably other external keyers out there but I've found the
Winkeyer to be the easiest to use.
