[SCCC] Fwd: FCC Removal of HAMS from 3 and 5 GHz

Actually, there are quite a few of us in SCCC who have operated 3 and 5 GHz
(and higher) - those bands were part of producing a world distance record,
nation-winning scores, all-time contest records and an armful of top-club
gavels for SCCC.

Many of us involved in public-service organizations such as ARES and ACS are
using, supporting and / or building mesh networks that include 3 and 5 GHz
frequencies not shared with the U-NII spectrum.

South Orange County (your area, Steve) in particular has already made heavy
use of 3 GHz for its mesh system. All that will go down the drain if RM
19-348 is adopted as proposed, as will the investments many of us have made
in 3 GHz weak-signal stations.

Money talks, and 5G marches on, so salvaging anything will be a difficult
fight. Stay tuned.

I seriously doubt many of we contesters have ever operated such nose-bleed
frequencies as 3 or 5 GHz. . . .
