[SCCC] Portable Laptop for Field Use with KX3

In all my portable operations, I've always used a d.c.to a.c.power
converter (12 vdc to 120 vac for the laptop) and the laptop's power adapter
on a batter *other than the one* powering my radio. Radio is on another
battery. Might be some more heat loss in the arrangement and not as
efficient as another method (like WI6X's up-converter), but it's simple and
I have never had a problem. My IC-7300 simply interfaces with the laptop in
the usual way via USB cable, and the WinKeyer USB goes into the key-in
input without a problem. I have ALWAYS set up everything a week before the
portable operation to be sure it all works and I've got the connections
correct. Then it all works, just like I'm in my portable "shack."

Good luck.
