           Soapbox :

My remote antenna switch is still stuck in the 80 meter position and 
other activities around home kept me from making the drive up to the 
high desert to reset it. Nevertheless, I couldn't resist the temptation 
to make at least a few contacts. On Sunday morning around 5:30 AM local 
time I cranked the K3 up to 100 watts and let the KAT-500 auto-tuner 
search for a match. It got the VSWR of the 80 meter vertical down to 
around 4:1 which was good for around 50 watts output from the K3. I went 
up and down the band a few times and worked everyone who could hear me. 
JA5DQH was super loud but I didn't even get a ? out of him, but I was 
able to work WH7T which was my best DX. I think the next best was VE5. 
Glad I was able to hand out a few contacts to a few of the serious 
participants.
