First contest of the year and I was ready for a change. But during the contest my Apple Watch App (SpaceWeatherLive) went off twice with two large events occurring - and it sure was evident at times. Loud signals coming in but seemingly only had my call sign (Packet People?) but hard of hearing. Only 18 hours of my available 24 hours were consumed as I would back off if the rate was too slow.

Ended up leaving ND for a WAS on the table - never heard one - but I think most of all the “zeros” live in MO & MN. There were times toward the end, I had the antenna parked at 25 degrees trying to ‘will one into the Log’ but that just didn’t work.
Although I looked to 10m a number of times, it was not an opportunity until Sunday morning when I heard a signal. I parked in a spot nearby and worked the 47 listed above. But though I enjoyed the short visit, as with 10m, this too shall pass.

I was unable to work much DX and those outside of our hemisphere necessitated a LONG stay (most times without any success.)

I improved on last year’s score but was woefully lower than the preceding four years. Some may say it was just conditions, but losing the ability of 150 watts output to 100 probably contributed the most.

Here’s to adapting to the new ELECRAFTER Rule ARRL instituted….
