The ARRL January VHF contest falls on the calendar as late as it possibly can this year. No,
its not always on MLK Birthday Weekend. Yep, its really going to be Jan 21-23 this time.

A new ham friend of mine, AJ KN6WNO will be doing this as his first contest ever. Please look
for him on the air from Orange CA. He will be on 6, 2m and 440 using FM and SSB. Pretty sure
he won't be on any digital for this one, due to the short time, and the steep learning curve.

Please keep an ear out for our so Calif Rovers Endaf N6UTC/R and Roger K6LMN/R. There might be some maritime mobile stations including Kim KC6ARY. Remember the new
rule change where there is an Analog Only class for fixed stations. Analog made a huge comeback
in last year's June VHF! We can dream that with the solar flux over 220 that maybe VK ZL will open
up on 6m in the early evening hours.

Suggested Freqs:
                       SSB FM CW Digital
               6m 50.125 52.525 50.095 50.313

               2m 144.200 146.52, .55, .58 - 144.174

              220 - 223.500 - -

              440 432.100 446.000 - -

Don't forget to help out local Winter Field Day stations the following weekend on Jan 28-29. W6ZE,
W6TOI and K6SOA will all be looking for your QSOs on the VHF bands. Every Band Mode is a multiplier!

The Spring VHF Sprints are coming soon. They are a great preparation for June VHF.

        144 MHz Monday April 10, 2023 0700 PM - 1100 PM Local

        222 MHz Tuesday April 18, 2023 0700 PM – 1100 PM Local

        432 MHz Wednesday April 26, 2023 0700 PM – 1100 PM Local

        Microwave Saturday May 6, 2023 0800 AM – 0200 PM Local

        50 MHz Saturday May 13, 2023 2300z through Sunday May 14, 2023 0300z

The lateness of the January VHF caused a scheduling error for a short vacation. I will be in
Mexico, where it is next to impossible to get a license. I will really miss the rove. CU in June VHF!

73,
Tim N6GP
