I'd encourage folks to jump on for a few minutes and on FM at least.
I went up on the hill closest to home with an HT.  Chatted with
several new hams.  (Well, it seems like there are new hams every VHF
contest.)  And they were enthusiastic about working stations and
mults!  A few more stations won't hurt to make the party even more
exciting for them.  And isn't VHF contesting the gateway drug to even
higher rate HF contesting?
