I am very happy with the CM500/K3 combination. There is a mic bias switch in the Mic Select menu line.
The Koss SB/45 is foldable and has an electret mic. It works well with the KX3. Mic Bias is a menu line.
They are holding up very well despite outdoor use and travel in a backpack.
I frequently get unsolicited "excellent audio" reports.
It's great having a boom mic while on SOTA summits.

Good question, Dennis.
The Elecraft K3 has a menu option to power the microphone, and it works
perfectly with the CM-500. You do need to reduce the mic gain to around 25,
about half the value used with dynamic mics.
For radios without mic power, the headset comes with a small in-line module
that runs off a common battery to power the mic.

In an earlier thread, several of you said you were using the Yamaha CM500
headset. I see that has an electret mic. What are you using to power it?
Plucking it from your radio? Did you have to wire a special cable?
