My contesting mentor, Steve Merchant (K6AW and club call AK6W), became a 
silent
key approximately 0400 PST the morning of this contest.  He and I had just 
done
the ARRL 10m contest together last month from W6RFU.  I transmitted "in
memory of K6AW" for many of my CQs during this contest and I made one of my
most concerted efforts during this contest in Steve's memory.  I 
participated
from the W6RFU (UCSB) shack where Steve did much of his contesting with 
friends
over the past few years.  RIP, OM.
