I climbedthe tower on Thursday morning and was able to repair the problem. Thisisn't easy for 83 yrs but I got it done. I started in the contest with theintention of just working multipliers to see if I could get 100 countries oneach band. The conditions were so good that I got sucked into operating morethan I had planned. Ten meters was about the best I have experienced with manylong distance zones being heard. Unfortunately I didn't have enough ERP toget into zone 21 or 22. Those stations although very audible just CQed in myface. I spent too much time fruitlessly trying to get through. My drill was toS&P through a band using the bandmap to bypass stations I had alreadyworked. I did a little running when the band was open to Asia. I felt thenumber of JA's were down this year compared to previous years. I went outto my shack before sunrise on Sunday morning waiting for the high bands to open.Out of curiosity I tried making some contacts with my 40-2CD which is sittingat 8 feet above the ground Surprisingly I picked up 16 mults including zones1,3,25,28,30,31,and 32. It was a pleasant surprise. It was a lot of fun withreally good conditions. 73, Kurt W6PH
