In early 2000 another user reported problems with accessing the parallel
port on a Dell Inspiration laptop.  He did some investigation, and it turned
out to be an incompatibility issue (probably hardware) with Inspirations,
and which he was able to confirm, on a Microsoft website, as a known
problem.

Sorry I don't have specific references, but if (when using the same
operating system) one computer keys and another doesn't, then it's probably
not an SD bug.
