And without wishing to encourage an operating system war (!), Windows is 
also more likely to crash than DOS!   I favour reliability, 
simplicity, & stability (of ALL the layers of software that run to give 
me computer logging!)  I'd have these over new features every time.

WIndows also steals lots of clock cycles from those fast processors - so 
the speed required to compensate is significant, especially for those of 
us who are willing to take an old battered 486 DOS laptop out into the 
field for real time logging in the wind and rain etc. but would not want 
to do the same with their new pride and joy!  So on that basis I am 
happy that SD lags the latest technology platform.

Nowadays at home, I run SD under DOS emulation on my Apple iBook running 
OSX which is as stable as a rock.  Works ok!  Not that Paul ever 
intended it to run on an Apple!
