Here's what I see - in V17.04.

On 14.010.00, with rig-control enabled, I use the
S command to switch the rig to SSB (in a mixed-mode
contest).  The frequency display remains visible.
I return to CW using the C command, and the display
remains visible.  So far, we're seeing the same thing.

Now, I change to SSB on the rig - and SD's frequency
display remains visible at 14.010.00.

Are we doing something different?
