October is a great month.  People are thinking contesting again.

January is also a great month, but kind of busy these days.  I don't think
you want the GQP stuck in the middle of a bunch of other
"major" contests.  You want to be right before.


The current date doesn't work because it is just after a major event
(IARU) and in the middle of the summer so everyone is thinking BBQs and
not radios.  

What is on the last weekend of September?  That would be OK I
think.  Sticking it on a RTTY weekend might be OK.  Not terrific, but
probably better than July.
