Hi everyone. I am back on the reflector after vacation and a somewhat =
rude return.
(Being separated from my job -- but at least it's with a good severance =
package).

First, Mike NE4S -- I no longer have the spreadsheet with the SECC =
membership
list. I am trying to get it sent from the old office, but no =
guarantees.  There may be a
few updates and at least one new member since the last time I sent it to =
you.=20

Direct e-mail can go to: gabnjb@earthlink.net -- do not use the =
gary@noblepub or=20
editor@noblepub addresses.

OK -- Field Day!

K9AY 1b-1op battery from Long Lake, Chippewa County, WI. =20

Discovered that neither the storage battery I took along, nor the =
trolling motor battery
at the cabin would hold a full charge -- operating time was limited to =
about 16-1/2 hours.

80CW -- 47
40CW -- 160
40SSB -- 6
20CW -- 231
15 CW -- 87
15 SSB -- 1 (had to harass my ol' buddy K1DG)
10 CW -- 3

QSOs =3D 535
QSO points =3D 1063
QRP mult x5 =3D 5315
Bonus points =3D 200 (emergency power, W1AW message)
FINAL CLAIMED SCORE:  5515

The upper Midwest is a great place for FD! The weather was perfect and =
there is a huge
amount of activity within one-hop propagation on all bands. 40 and 20 =
were marvelous,
80 was easier than expected. I missed much of the shorter skip on 15 =
Sunday morning=20
when the batteries gave out.

Rig: borrowed IC706MkII (without the manual -- arghhh!) 5W output.
Three antennas:=20
     1) 40-20-15 dipole at about 45 feet, broadside E/W; =20
     2) 20-15 dipole at 50 ft, broadside N/S;=20
     3) 80-40 inverted-vee, 40 feet at center, broadside N/S. =20

75% of all QSOs were made using antenna #1. As expected, antenna #2 was =
better for=20
VE4/5 and W5, but not anywhere else; antenna #3 was never better than #1 =
on 40 but=20
worked very well at its low height on 80 -- lots of W8, W9, W0 stations =
available to work.

I may do this again next year!

73, Gary
K9AY
