You are leaving for 40 meters to early.  40M is like the gold rush.  Once
you hear others there, you feel like you have to follow.  I know for sure
that if I don't have close to 120 QSOs on 20 meters I'm dead meat.  So I
just stay there until I have it.  In Feb that usually means lots of weak
back scatter QSOs from here.
