Hello all:

Here is my claimed score for NAQP January 2004 Phone.  I was on SECC
#2.  I had thought I would be part-time because my sister-in-law and her
husband were to be visiting us this weekend.  Unfortunately for them,
their car engine blew when they were an hour out of Augusta and they had
to turn back.  So, it was a full-time effort instead.

       851  188   =   159,988 points.  The rate on 20 meters was so good
that I didn't go to 40 until 2328 UTC.  I seemed to be getting out
pretty good and the skip wasn't too long (I got SC and NC), but the rate
was slow.  Later the skip was too long for close in stations and I
didn't seem to get out too well in competition with the foreign BC
stations.  I usually don't do very well on 75, but I shortened the
80-meter inverted vee and found a spot to run on 3858 and had my best
rates of the contest.  QRN was very heavy on 75 and 160 including a bit
of rain static.  I kept the shade up on the window and scanned for
lightning, but never saw any.  It is very hard for me to do much on 160
with my poor antenna and only 100 watts.

10 and 15 were pretty good, considering everything.  We had skip to W6
and W7 and VE5 on 10 and some scatter to W8/W9 and W4 areas.  On 15,
there were skip QSOs in Mi and Wi quite late in the afternoon and some
New England and VE2/3/4/5/6/7, VE1, VE9, and VY2. as well as Colorado,
New Mexico and points west.  160 sounded pretty good but I was unable to
raise stations like VE3MGY and N7KA in New Mexico for new mults.

DX worked:  WP4MNR (very bad audio) on 10 M, TI2JJP on 10 M who QSYed to
15 and 20 also, ZF2NT, CO8TW, KL7CQ, KH7JJ. WH6LU, HB9RDE.

SECC members worked:  N4LR, W4NTI, K4NO, KU8E, KT4ZB, K4WI, WA4TII and
WW4LL.  I heard someone work AA4LR on a high band where I couldn't hear
Bill.

Stations in GA, SC, and AL worked not known to be SECC members:

W4BD, Bob, GA.  KB4IT, Morris, GA.  KA4NWS, Sally, SC.  WT8Y, Ken, SC.
KE4DRJ, Joe, SC.  AB4EJ, Bill, AL.  NA4BW, Brian, GA.

It was a lot of fun, particularly during long runs on 20 and 75 and
while quickly switching between 15 and 10 and calling CQ on each one and
moving stations who called to the other band.  Not quite as good as
SO2R, but still good fun.
