Hello all:

The big (for me) contest this weekend is IARU Radiosport. There are
also an international RTTY contest, the FISTS CW club Summer Sprint, and
a QRPARCI Sprint that runs Sunday afternoon and will not conflict with IARU.

1. IARU HF World Championship.
12Z Sat to 12Z Sun. CW, Phone, or Mixed. This year for the first time,
there are awards at three power levels, high, low, and QRP power.
Exchange: RS(T) + ITU zone (or HQ abbreviation or official
abbreviation). Our Ala members are in ITU Zone 07 and the rest of us
are in ITU Zone 08. Multipliers are ITU Zones, HQ stations, and IARU
officials (AC, R1, R2, R3) per band (not per band/mode).
http://www.arrl.org/contests/rules/2004/iaru.html.
WW4LL will be QRV with many SECC members operating in the multi-single
category. So, we can work them 12 times, once on phone and once on CW
on each band. Of course, the same is true for any other station. Many
of the HQ stations will be in reality multi-multis from different QTHs
in a single country and it should be possible to work them on both modes
anytime the bands are open to that country.

2. UKDX RTTY.
12Z Sat to 12Z Sun. 160 - 10 M. RTTY. Exchange (for UK stations):
RST & UK area code (I think it means postal area code). Exchange (for
all others): RST & QSO #. http://www.srars.org/ukdxcruleseng.pdf.

3. FISTS Summer Sprint. Sat. 17 to 21 Z. 80 - 10 CW. (near 3558,
7058, 14058, 21058, 28058). Exchange: Name, RST, S/P/C, FISTS member
no. or power output. http://www.fists.org/sprints.html. This is a
contest that I enjoy when it does not conflict with something like IARU.
It is a chance to encourage some of the newer and slower CW ops to
enjoy contesting.

4. ARCI Summer Homebrew Sprint.
20Z to 24Z Sunday. Suggested from -10 to +5 of the following
frequencies: 1810, 3560, 7040, 14060, 21060, 28060. Try to avoid the
CHN on 14056.5. Exchange: RST + S/P/C + ARCI # or power. Power mults
for powers under 5 watts. Bonus for homebrew gear including kits. Also
bonus for portable stations on emergency power with temporary antennas.

WB5KHC would like you to submit your claimed score electronically by
accessing http://2hams.net/ARCI/index.htm and clicking on "Submit
Contest Entry." In addition, for awards, send him your summary sheet
and log file to wb5khc at 2hams.net.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and a lot of contacts.

73,

John, K4BAI.
