[SECC] Use of the W4AN Call Sign

John,

I am sorry to hear that Chris won't be using the W4AN Call Sign. I would like to ask for permission to use it in his stead.

I recall that there was a flurry of e-mails to reflector when he asked about it earlier, and I am surprised not to see any now (so far).

I have made a significant commitment to operate a 1A station from the Roswell Fire Department's Hazardous Materials Incident Response Command Post Trailer from RFD Station 5 located near North Fulton Regional Hospital.

It won't be a robust station: a sloping G5RV (hung with the assistance of the ladder truck) and/or a Hustler Mobile array setup on the trailer will be emitting signals from my Kenwood TS-120S ("barefoot").

I have never used anyone's call sign other than my own, so if it is loaned to me, it will need to come with an instruction manual, or at least a briefing on proper usage. I am a General Class operator, so I understand that when "flying solo" that is the limitation of my frequency priviledges regardless of the call sign. I'm certain that there must be other caveats.

I have a commitment to be at Northside UMC in the Buckhead area of Atlanta Sunday Morning where I am the Technical Director of their "contemporary" service. If I can find a substitute, I'll be on the bulk fo the 24 hours. If not, I'll be on the air until midnight or until everyone I hear is a "dupe."

I appreciate your consideration,

Scott Straw, KB4KBS
Firefighter, Roswell Fire Department
