Subject: [SECC] Introduction - AI4MT - New Member

Hi All,

My name is Paul Jones and I'm a new member and thought it would be a good
idea to introduce myself to you all. I'm originally from England as you will
soon tell when you hear me on the air, I know I have already worked several
of you in various contests.

I was originally licensed in the UK back in 1981 with a G7 callsign, and
have been in the USA now for 8 years and took my tech exam the year I moved
over, but with work commitments I wasn't able to take my General until '05
finally passed my extra in '06. I am an avid CW fan, and my speed varies
from 15wpm on a bad day to 25 on a good day, luckily for me, seems all the
contests are on good days :-).

Until recently I was living in a restricted community so all my HF work was
on a 80 inverted V at 35ft in the oak trees, well I moved back in March to a
new qth out in the country, and now have 4 acres to play with, so I can
start to build a more serious contest station, I have several antennas
planned, my every day use antenna goes up this weekend on a 55ft aluminum
crack up, a Mosley TA-63M, then hopefully by the end of January I will have
my other towers up, two rohn 45's at 150ft with the following antenna's 2
5el20's, and a 6el10 on one tower
And a 3el40 and 5el15 on the other ( all antennas are sitting in boxes ready
to be built). I currently use a 160m 1/2wave dipole at 65ft, that will be
moving up to the towers at 120ft once they are complete. I was even thinking
of some sort of curtain array for between the towers, but I'm still thinking
on that one..

But while living in the older qth I gained the following awards.
2006 ARRL International DX - 1st Place Phone Single Op, Low Power, SC
Section.
2006 ARRL International DX - 1st Place CW Single Op, Low Power, SC Section.
2006 IARU HF World Championships - 1st Place ARRL SC Section.
2006 ARRL 10m DX - 1st Place Mixed, Multi op, Low Power, SC Section.

Anyway enough of my ramblings, I look forward to working you all in the
contests...

Paul
