John, I had to switch over to my G5RV NVIS to get you Tuesday
night. I could hear you several s-units better on it than I
could on the big GAP. After switching to the G5RV it took about
3 minutes for you to hear me. I do not see a post on qfox list
for your log. Did you forget to send it there? Most of the fox
hunters will not see it on SECC list. BTW, I have a Heil Pro
Headset also and I have an intermittent on one side too. I have
heard several others complain about this also.
Thanks for 1/2 of my 2fer on Tuesday night's hunt. I guess that
does it for you as a fox for this series. Thanks for helping all
the hounds make it through a tough winter. Hope to chase you
again next winter. Wish you a nice summer.

73, Larry K4PIC

Subject: [SECC] K4BAI Log, 80M Fox Hunt 3/6/07

Thanks for all the QSOs Tuesday night. Conditions seemed pretty good
and the inverted vee worked well. Probably could have done a bit better
to the Northeast if the zepp could have been used, but the antenna tuner
has a dead section needed to tune the zepp on 80. Needs to be repaired
or replaced. I did work N1VWD in VT and VA3NR up that way, but few
others. Report from NG7Z is of zero signal in the Pacific Northwest and
didn't work any California stations, but did get two in NM, K7TQ in ID,
and two in AZ. The inverted vee works better than the zepp to the west.
There was no significant long skip, although fellow Georgian K4PIC
wasn't as strong as usual.

I started out on 3552.5 QSX up one and continued there until 0259Z in
spite of the high power net on 3552 at 0230Z. Rate dropped and went
simplex at 0259. After 0308, the rate was zero and I imagined that
there was some broadband noise on 3552.5 and the noise seemed less
higher up, so I went to 3557 simplex for two more QSOs and a short
ragchew with a 100 watt QRO station who wanted to know what a "Fox" was.
AE4YK said that was "interesting," but didn't offer to work me QRP.

I am sorry that I was unable to copy W7J? who called several times and
KI0R?, who called at 0329Z, but wouldn't respond when I asked for his
full call or for him to call again. I think he wasn't copying me.

Only problem was an intermittent in one ear from the Heil Pro Plus
headset. On Wednesday, I ordered a new Heil noise cancelling set from
HRO and it should arrive today. Then the two Pro Plus with
intermittents in them will be shipped off to "Heil Hospital" for repair.

I will not post a final log unless someone promptly reports an error. I
think this should be the final log. Thanks for the QSOs. 72, John, K4BAI.
