1.  80M QRP Fox Hunt. Thursday night local, 0200-0330Z Friday.  Two QRP 
foxes will be hiding between 3550 and 3570 kHz.  5W maximum power. 
Exchange:  RST, SPC, Name, Power. Work only the two foxes.

2.  NCCC NS Ladder.  0230-0259Z Friday (Thursday night local).  20, 40, 
80, 160M CW.  100W maximum power.  One kHz QSY rule.  Exchange:  both 
calls, #, name, SPC.  Look around 040 kHz plus 1815 kHz.  Good practice 
for the NCJ NA Sprint on Saturday night.  Slow speed SNS with same rules 
except no 160M and keep speeds down from 0200 to 0220Z.

3.  Vermont QSO Party.  00Z Sat to 24Z Sun.  160-UHF.  CW, Phone, 
Digital.  Exchange:  RS(T) + S/P or VT county.

Cw, SSB.  HQ stations send RS(T) + club/organization.  Black Sea Country 
stations send: RS(T) + "BS" + country abbreviation.  BSCC Members sent: 
  RS(T) + "BS" + club #.  Others:  Send RS(T) + ITU Zone.  Work 
everyone. There is usually a lot of activity in this one.

7.  FYBO Winter QRP Sprint.  14-24Z Sat.  80-10M CW, SSB, Digital.  5W 
maximum power.  Exchange:  RS(T) +  SPC + Name + temperature (F).  A lot 
of QRPers look forward to this one, but I don't usually hear much activity.

8.  Minnesota QSO Party.  14-24Z Saturday.  160-VHF+ CW(including RTTY 
and PSK), Phone.  Exchange:  Name and MN county or S/P or "DX."

9.  British Columbia QSO Party.  16Z Sat to 04Z Sunday.  160-10M. CW, 
SSB, Digital.  Exchange:  RS(T) + S/P/"DX" or BC District.

10.  Delaware QSO Party.  17Z Sat to 2359Z Sun.  160-VHF.  CW, Phone, 
Digital/RTTY.  Exchange:  RS(T) + SPC or DE county.

11. Mexico International RTTY DX Contest.  18Z Sat to 1759Z Sun.  80-10M 
RTTY.  Exchange:  RST + Serial # or XE State.  Work everyone.  There is 
usually a lot of activity in this one.

12.  NCJ North American Sprint, CW.  00-04Z Sun (Sat night local).  20, 
40, 80M CW.  Exchange:  both calls, #, name, SPC.  THERE IS A TEAM 
COMPETITION.  TEAMS ARE COMPOSED OF 2 TO 10 MEMBERS.  I AM GETTING UP A 
TEAM OR TEAMS UNDER THE BANNER SOUTH EAST SPRINT COALITION, a practice 
started by the late W4AN to try to encourage activity in the Sprints in 
our area of the country.  We have a hard time getting up 10 members from 
any one club.  So far I have 8 signed up:  K4BAI, N1LN, K4TD, KY4F, 
NN4K, N4PN, N4AF and KU8E.  I'd love to have two teams or more.  Members 
don't have to be in the South East. W9SN and K3WU at least have 
participated in the past.  I will register the teams on Saturday before 
the Sprint starts.  Please let me know ASAP if you can be on a team, if 
you will be full or part time, and what power level you will use.  Even 
if you are not on a team, this can be a really fun and challenging CW 
Contest.  There is a 5/1 kHz QSY rule.  That means if you solicit a call 
and get one, you must relinquish the frequency and move 5 kHz before you 
CQ again and one kHz before calling another station.  So, the station 
who called you inherits the frequency and can CQ on it.  Some who like 
to CQ will have two CQ frequencies at least 5 kHz apart and CQ a lot. 
Others like to have "couplet" QSOs by answering someone else's CQ and 
staying for someone to call them before moving frequency.  As usual, the 
best practice is a mix of both CQ and S&P.  Most activity will start on 
20M, which will likely close soon, and then move to 40, and on to 80. 
You can stay 80 minutes on each band if they are all open and only 
change bands twice.  That would be one extreme and the other would be 
SO2R stations who change bands between most QSOs.  Therefore, there will 
be some 40M operation by the SO2R guys at the beginning and toward the 
end when most are on 80, some will still be on 40 with their second 
rigs.  If the pace seems too fast for you, go to the upper or lower 
edges of activity and call "CQ NA" at whatever speed is comfortable for 
you and you will make a lot of QSOs.

13.  February Adventure Radio Society Spartan Sprint.  Monday night 
local.  02-04Z Tuesday.  5W maximum power.  80-10M CW.  Exchange:  RST + 
SPC + power.  Look around 14040, 7030, 7040, and 3560 kHz.

14.  Tuesday night 40M QRP Fox Hunt.  Same rules as for 80M on Thursday 
nights except the frequency range is 7030-7050 kHz.

15.  This weekend is the annual FOC Marathon weekend.  This is a closed 
contest for FOC members only.  21Z Friday to 21Z Sunday.  160-10M CW. 
Rules say to avoid 1820-1832 kHz and 035 to 045 kHz on the other bands. 
  Activity is usually centered around 025 kHz on 80-10M and I guess 1820 
kHz on 160m.  Some member, myself included, will answer non-members in 
the Marathon, but they don't count for points and some will try to avoid 
answering non-members.  There are bonus points for 5 banders and 6 
banders, so there will be a lot of QSYing going on.

Hope everyone has a nice week and weekend and a lot of QSOs.  Something 
for everyone except the VHF/UHF ops this weekend.
