[SECC] Windows 7

I answered Cort direct, but thought I'd pass along some of the tips that
have made my set-up work. Please pass this along to the ACG and any other
groups that were included--I only have access to the SECC -

I'm using Win7, a US Interface Navigator USB interface(With Sound card, CAT
and a Winkeyer), Elecraft K3 and N1MM contest software (MMTTY for RTTY)
I'm running everything at 38.4 KBaud (it doesn't have to run at that rate)

Here are some tips that I'll throw out---you may have tried some or all of
these, but maybe it will help someone with interfacing:

--Make sure the Baud rate matches on the Radio, the interface, the Software
and the computer
--Make sure the Bit stream (8 Data Bits, No parity, 1 or 2
stopbits) matches on all the devices--It's probably hard-coded on the
radio, but may be configurable on the others--most software will set it to
the chosen radio's default.
--On the Windows 7 PC, go into device manager and force-set the Baud rate
on the serial port (or virtual serial port) to the same as all the other
devices.
--If you have selected a high baud rate, try a slower one (4800 or 9600).
You really won't notice much difference and I have found this to correct
some problems.
--If you are using an interface with a built-in sound card and you only
need one soundcard, use the one on the interface.
--If you are running MMTTY, you may have to go into the settings and select
the soundcard on the USB device)

Some of you may have other suggestions or may not agree with mine, but they
work for me.

73 and good luck, Tad, WF4W
