As far as points for the club goes, you will almost certainly do better
with a multi-band assisted entry, running the maximum power available.
But, there are many ways to operate a contest, and one's goals may not be
consistent with that. For example, I operate QRP almost exclusively.
Could I make more points for the club if I ran more power? Most
definitely, but I prefer operating at 5 watts or less.
I say operate your own contest: if that means single band 160, so be it.
If aggregating the most points for the club is more important for you, do
that.
If you know you want to operate single band (without knowing your station
setup) 20 meters would likely result in the highest score....possibly 40,
depending on conditions.
