The ARRL VHF test is this weekend from 2pm Saturday afternoon until 11pm
Sunday nite, EDST. For those of you that operate the Stew Perry Test, you
have been introduced to grid squares. For the rest of you it is time to
learn. Each 60 x 100 mile (or 1 degree by 2 degree) square is a different
state or country mult for us VHF gluttons.

Please help us retain our VHF/UHF spectrum by working the guys and gals in
the test. There will be numerous expeditions to mountaintops in GA
(Brasstown), NC (Grandfather, Mitchell, and Cherohala Parkway) and TN
(Chillhowee Ridge, Cherohala, Cross, and Bear mountains). All of these
locations should be in range of your handheld. 6 meters could be open
transoceanic (for those of you without neighbors...)!

For those of you going to the Knoxville Hamfest 2001 on Saturday, you can
work many of us from 4 different grids within 5 miles of the hamfest.
Flyers and maps showing local grids will be available at the hamfest as well
as a contest rover station. Help us out. Listen for us on 146.55, 146.58,
147.42, 223.5 or 446.0 FM. Disconnect that packet rig for the weekend and
work us. Who knows, you may want to get in line for one of W4PA's new 6n2
rigs...
