Good choice. The best reason for going through all the hassle is that  
you will have less liability to worry about as your homeowner's  
insurance will likely cover it. If you just put it up without the  
proper paperwork, you open yourself up to a vulnerable legal position.

I went through this five years ago when I put up my tower.
