On the heels of the FCC Omnibus R&O (Report and Order) the FCC is now
requesting comments on the WRC-2007 agenda.
Here are a few of the items being considered:
Review of all frequencies between 4 and 15 Mhz excluding
7.0 to 7.2 Mhz which was settled at WRC-2003.
Under this review, expaning the 40 meter band to the full 300 Khz is on the
IARU agenda. Thus 7200 to 7300 is on the table. Further, a 150 khz band at
5 Mhz to replace the 5 discrete US channels and other such small allocations
in the UK is being proposed. The main focus is emergency use on a secondary
basis in light of the natural disasters of the past several years.
Go to the ARRL Web page for more details and how to send email comments.
Having a 300 khz band at 40 meters would solve many more of the allocation
problems now being discussed
for the current band and the expanded world wide band in March 2009.
