Hello Michael,

Your question opens a very large subject but here are a few tips from my 
personal experience.
Monoband wire antennas always seem to work the best and are very easy to 
build.  A good dipole fed with RG-213 or the like will handle full legal 
power and then some.  The most important thing is height above ground.  "The 
Wire Man" sells all the top quality material you will need.
