[SEDXC] Romney dismisses Amateur radio

I agree that Gov. Romney should listen to the Salvation army folks on the
service that amateur radio provides.
I also agree with Val N4RJ that all of us need to
understand the service amateur radio CAN provide. The VU4 and VU7
Dxpeditions are a direct result of the emergency in that area.
When many of us old heads got our ticket we were Dxers, Contesters, and
traffic handlers. This is the missing part of many Dxers today. I have
been told that I must be trained to do anything beyond providing help as a
last resort from my home station as I did during Katrina. To get ANYWHERE
near the area requires training and a federal pass. That is why ARRL hired
Dennis Dura, K2DCD who was at Lawrenceville last November. Dennis is the
ideal ham to send a message to Gov. Romney.
