I spoke too soon.  I just found out that my chemo is billing $8900 each time.  Now I know medicare will cut that down quite a bit but I figure that I will have out of pocket expenses of at least $1500 plus I have 11 more chemo infusions to do.

Guess I will stay with the FT-1000MP MK V 200 watt transceiver that does allow direct control of the second VFO,  I have older gear too that I know how to work split so any new gear is off the table right now.
