[SEDXC] NOT ALL CREATED EQUAL

Recently my one of my laptop power supplies became intermittent due to the supply cord. I doubled it back and taped it to keep it running but decided to order a replacement. There we many replacements to select from on Ebay. I picked one that looked like it would do well. Received it and it looked very nice. Plugged it in and all worked well. So I decided to check it for RFI and it was creating a raucous noise even when not connected to the laptop. My old unit was nice and quiet. No RFI. So be wary of replacements. I plan on buying something that says OEM with the exact numbers printed on the supply next time and even then no guarantee. All wall warts are suspects for noise and as I have had some Comcast wall warts that work okay in the beginning but as they age begin to generate RFI.

Be careful what you bring into the shack or house for that matter. W4DD told me his son in law bought some kitchen lighting and installed. When he would turn them on the TV would blank out on certain channels. W4DD checked them with his radio tracker and the RFI noise from them was unbelievable. 73 Mike K4PI
