Bottom line -- apparently I'm just not a linux guy!  Computer is a Dell E1505 - comes with AC power supply and the battery is good.  OS installed is Ubuntu 14.04 -- btw -- where do they get these funky names for their OS??  It all works well but I've learned about all I want to so now it's your turn.  I won't be able to help you -- don't ask!  Hey, its FREE!
