This Week's Contests:
1. Phone Fray. Every Tuesday. 0230Z to 0259Z. 15-160M SSB. 100W
maximum power. No QSY rule. Exchange: name + SPC.
2. Straight Key Century Club Week Day Sprint. 0000Z to 0200Z Wednesday
(Tuesday night local date). Use a mechanical key. 160-10M CW.
Exchange: RST + SPC + Name + SKCC# or "NONE." A very popular contest
that can be a lot of fun.
3. CWops Club CWT Mini Tests. Three separate one-hour mini-tests every
Wednesday local date. 1300Z, 1900Z, 0300Z (Thursday UTC date). 160-10M
CW. Exchange: Name + CWOps # or SPC. Look around 028 to 045 kHz on
each band and lower on 160M. Don't forget to check 15 and 20M at the
start of the 0300Z session. We are beginning to have summer propagation
with the higher bands staying open later at night.
4. NCCC RTTY Sprint. 0145Z to 0215Z Friday (Thursday night local
date). 15-160M RTTY. 100W maximum power. One/one kHz QSY rule.
Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. Same band dupes permitted after one
intervening QSO. Look around 080 kHz on each band and up from 1805 kHz.
5. NCCC NS Sprint. 0230 to 0259Z Friday (Thursday night local date).
15-160M CW. 100W maximum power. One/one kHz QSY rule. Exchange: both
calls, #, name, SPC. No same band dupes permitted. Look around 40 kHz
and up from 1815 kHz. Don't forget to check 15 and 20M at the start. I
could possibly be QRV from VP5/K4BAI.
6. CQ WPX (Prefix) Contest, CW. 48 hours of Saturday and Sunday UTC.
Single ops limited to 36 hours with minimum of one-hour off periods.
160-10M CW. Exchange: RST + serial #. QSOs on 40-160M count for more
points than 20-10M QSOs. Logs are due by June 2. K4BAI and K4QPL will
be QRV from Provo multi single low power as VP5M.
7. South Africa Radio League Digital Contest. 1300-1600Z Sunday. 80,
40, 20M PSK, RTTY. Exchange: RST + QSO #. Work only ZR, ZS, ZT stations.
8. QRPARCI Hoot Owl Sprint. 2000 local time until 2400 local time
Sunday. 160-10M CW. Exchange: RST + SPC + QRPARCI # or power. Bonus
points for portables using battery power and portable antennas.
9. Phone Fray. See #1 above.
10. CWTs. See #2 above.
Hope everyone has a nice week and weekend and a lot of QSOs, especially
in the WPX contest, which is one of the six big DX contests each year. I
will try to be QRV as VP5/K4BAI outside the contest hours and will try
to check into the GSN on 3549 kHz at 2300 and 0200Z daily on Thursday,
early Friday, Sunday, and Monday if possible. If you want a QSO with
me, check in to the net (QNI) and ask for a QSO with me. We can wait
until the net is over or move off frequency. We do plan some 160M CW
operation at night. As of this time, I doubt we will be QRV on any mode
other than CW.
73, John, K4BAI.
