Hi Mike,

I think what you are talking about is the "Europe on even, North America
and Asia on odd" plan, described here:

What the QST article does not mention, and I think is important, are the
notes at the top and bottom of the page: they are talking about
intercontinental DX on 50.323.

Working with 50 MHz operators in Japan, UKSMG has prepared these guidelines

The truth is that most people are going to transmit on the slot that gets
them the DX!
