This Week's Contests:
1. CWOps Club CWT Mini Tests. Every Wednesday. Three separate
one-hour mini-tests. 1300Z. 1900Z. 0300Z (Thursday UTC date).
160-10M CW. Exchange: Name + CWOps# or SPC. Look around 027 to 042
kHz plus up from 1820 kHz.
2. North American QRP CW Club July Sprint. 0030Z-0230Z Thursday
(Wednesday night local date). 20, 40, 80M CW. 5W maximum power.
Exchange: RST + SPC + NAQCC# or power. Get a NAQCC# for free from the
home page. Double your score for use of a hand key and 1 1/2 times your
score for use of a bug. Look around 14060, 7040 (7030), and 3560 kHz.
3. QRP Fox Hunt. 0100-0230Z Friday (Thursday night local date). 20M.
Two foxes (N8SS, EARL, MI and WA4ILO, JIM, GA) will be hiding between
14050 and 14070 kHz. 5W maximum power. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name,
Power. Work only the two Foxes and do not spot their frequencies.
4. NCCC RTTY Sprint. 0145Z-0215Z Friday (Thursday night local date).
15, 20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY. 100W maximum power. Exchange: both calls,
#, name, SPC. One/one kHz QSY rule. Same band dupes OK after one
intervening QSO. Look around 080 kHz and up from 1805 kHz.
5. NCCC NS Sprint. 0230-0259Z Friday (Thusday night local date). 15,
20, 40, 80, 160M CW. 100W maximum powr. Exchange: both calls, #, name,
SPC. One/one kHz QSY rule. No same band dupes permitted. Look around
040 kHz and up from 1815 kHz.
6. South American Sprint Contest. 2100-2300Z Saturday, 40, 20M CW,
SSB. 100W maximum power. Exchange: RS(T) + serial #. One/Three kHz
QSY rule. Work everyone. That's correct. You can work other USA
stations, South Americans, or anyone else. But, the multiplirs are
South American prefixes counted only once, so you would want to maximize
your SA QSOs while working anyone else you could. This is a new one and
is the only contest this Sat/Sun. So, let's turn out for this two-hour
period and practice our QSYing sprint abilities.
7. Straight Key Century Club Week Day Sprint. 0000-0200Z Wed (Tues
night local date). 160-10M CW. Use mechanical keys only. Exchang:
RST + SPC + Name + SKCC# or "NONE." Bonus station this month will be AC6FU.
8. Phone Fray. Every Tuesday night local date. 0230-0259Z. 15, 20,
40, 80, 160M SSB. 100W maximum power. Exchange: Name + SPC. No QSY
rule. Look around 21325, 14250, 7175, 3800, and 1875 kHz.
9. CWTs. Every Wednesday. See #1 above.
The first Saturday in August is NAQP CW and the third is NAQP SSB.
Teams of from two to five single ops may be registered prior to the
contest. The more teams, the more stations will be active and the more
fun for everyone. I will register teams for SECC for NAQP CW and SSB.
So far, for CW, I have: W5JR, WH6YH, NM2L, NN4K, and N4EWT. I don't
have any committed for a SSB team yet. Please let me know ASAP if you
would like to be on a team and if you will be LP or QRP and FT or PT.
I'd like to get up several teams for both modes. Thanks for letting me
know. Invite your friends as one doesn't have to be a member of a club
or within any particular geographical area to be on a team.
Hope everyone has a nice week and weekend and a lot of QSOs. Keep an
eye out for six meter openings as there have been some this week.
73, John, K4BAI.
