For info for SSB in Sept and future years, if you use the N1MM+ logging
program, you access the QTC window by Control Z. When the window comes
up, you will intuitively know how to send QTCs. Be sure the call you
are sending the QTC to appears in the Call Sign box in the logging
program before you hit Control Z.
*i suspect this number is too low. It is probably the number of the
actual countries worked whereas the other scores have a multiplication
factor in them, depending on the band.

This Week's Contests:
1. Flying Pigs QRP Club 20M Walk for the Bacon. Thursday (Today) local
date. 0200-0300Z Friday. 20M CW. 5W max power. 13 WPM max speed.
Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, FP# (if you have one). Work everyone.
Suggested frequencies: 14061-14065 kHz. Suggested call: "CQ FP."
2. QRP Fox Hunt 20M. 0100-0230Z Friday (Thursday night local date).
Two QRP Foxes (NK6A, DON, CA and K9DRP, DON, ILL) will be calling
between 14050 and 14070 kHz. 5W max power. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name,
Power. Work only the two foxes and do not report their frequencies. We
should have an excellent chance to work NK6A with his beam. If we are
lucky, the band will be short enough at the start to work IL.
3. NCCC RTTY Sprint. 0145-0215Z Friday (Thursday night local date).
15, 20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY rule.
Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. Same bad dupes OK after one
intervening QSO. Look around 082 kHz and up from 1805 kHz on 160M.
4. NCCC NS Sprint Ladder. New ladder series starts tonight. Every
Thursday night local date, 0230-0259Z Friday. 15, 20, 40, 80, 160M CW.
100W max power. One/one kHz QSY rule. No same band dupes permitted.
Look around 040 to 045 on each band plus up from 1815 on 160M. Exchange:
both calls, #, name, SPC.
5. K1USN Slow Speed Test (SST). No two new bands allowed. 160-10M CW.
20 WPM max speed. 2000-2100Z Friday. Exchange: Name, SPC. Mults
count per band. Main bands for this time will continue to be 20 and 40.
Look around 030 to 045 kHz on each band and 1815 kHz up on 160M.
6. SARTG World Wide RTTY Contest. Three sessions: 0000-0800Z Sat.,
1600-2400Z Sat., 0800-1600Z Sun. 80-10M RTTY. Exchange: RST + serial
#. Work everybody.
7. ARRL 10 GHz and Up Contest. 0600 local time Sat to 2400 local
Sunday. 24 hours max operating time. 10 GHz and up, any mode.
Exchange: 6 character grid square.
8. Russian District Award Contest. 0800Z Sat to 0800Z Sun. 160-10M
CW, SSB. Exchange: RS(T) + QSO# or RDA Code for Russians.
9. Keyman's Club of Japan (KCJ) Contest. 1200Z Sat to 1200Z Sun.
160-6M CW. Exchange: RST + CQ Zone or JA prefecture/district. Work
only Japanese stations.
10. NCJ North American QSO Party, SSB. 1800Z Sat to 0559Z Sun. 160-10M
SSB. 100W max power. Exchange: Name + SPC of just name for stations
outside North America. 10 hours maximum operating time for single ops.
There is no high power category. M/2 stations may operate all 12 hours,
but cannot be on a team. No spotting assistance is allowed for single
ops. If you use spotting, you report your score as M/2. There is a
team competition. Teams consist of two to five members and do not have
to belong to the same club or live in the same geographical area. SECC
will have teams. So far, I have seven and we need three more to fill
out a second team. Please e-mail me ASAP if you can participate and let
me know how much time you expect to be QRV. This is a very popular
contest. Mults count per band, so there in an incentive to work all
open bands that you can.
11. CVA DX Contest, CW. 2100Z Sat to 2100Z Sun. 160-10M CW. This is
sponsored by a Brazilian club. Exchange: RST + type or UF. UF is a
Brazilian state. The types are: CVA for PT2CVA. HQ for LABRE HQ
station. MIL for military stations. QRP, YL, Teen. Also RB (not sure
what that is for), FD (for field day type), and DX. US stations who are
not QRP or YL usually send "DX." There will be a good bit of activity,
particularly from SA, but also from the rest of the world and it can be
fun to participate. I let N1MM+ decide the scoring. Suggested call is
"CQ CVA."
12. ARRL Rookie Round Up, RTTY. 1800-2350Z Sunday. 80-10M RTTY. Max
power 100W. Exchange: name + 2 digit year first licensed + S/P/XE
state or "DX." Non Rookie stations should work only rookie stations who
will have the years 19, 20, or 21 in their exchange.
13. K1USN Slow Speed Test (SST). 0000-0100Z Mon (Sunday night local
date). See # 5 above.
14. Straight Key Century club Week Day Sprint. 0000-0200Z Wed (Tuesday
night local date). 160-6M CW. Use a mechanical key. Exchange: RST,
SPC, Name, SKCC# or "NONE."
15. CWOps Club CWT Tests. Every Wed/Thurs. Four separate one-hour
tests. 1300Z, 1900Z Wed, 0300Z, 0700Z Thurs. 160-10M CW. Exchange:
Name + CWOps# or SPC. There are a lot of fun and are good to practice
for the "real" contests. These are very popular as you can tell by the
score report above.
Hope everyone has a nice week and week end and a lot of QSOs. 73, John,
K4BAI, for SECC.
