being NCS of GSN at 0200Z. I forgot to turn the power back down until
the last QSO. Should count for them, but didn't count for me.

This Week's Contests:
1. Straight Key Century Club Sprint - Europe (SKSE). 1900-2100Z
Thursday. 160-6M CW. Exchange: RST. SPC, Name, SKCC# or "NONE." use
a mechanical key. Work everyone, not just Europeans. Most activity
starts on 20M and ends on 40M. Look around 050-065 kHz on these bands.
2. QRP Fox Hunt. 20M. 0100-0230Z Friday (Thursday night local date).
Two QRP Foxes (N8SS, EARL, MI and N7CQR, DAN, OR) will be calling
between 14050 and 14070 kHz. 5W max power. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name,
Power. Foxes usually start split up (sending "UP") and most will go
simplex when the pile up dies down. Good opportunity to practice
operating split. Work only the two foxes and do not spot their
frequencies. The band will probably permit QSOs to MI and OR with just
5 watts.
3. NCCC RTTY Sprint. Every Thursday night local date. 0145-0215Z
Friday. 15, 20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY. 100W power limit. One/one kHz QSY
rule. Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. Same band dupes OK after
one intervening QSO. Look around 082 kHz and up from 1805 kHz on 160M.
4. NCCC NS Sprint. Every Thursday night local date. 0230-0259Z
Friday. 15, 20, 40, 80, 160M CW. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY
rule. Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. No same band dupes
permitted. Look around 040-045 kHz on each band except up from 1815 kHz
on 160M.
5. K1USN Slow Speed Test (SST). 2000-2100Z Friday. 20, 40, 80, 160M
CW. Exchange: Name + SPC. Max speed 20 WPM. Look around 029 to 047
kHz on higher bands and around 1820 kHz on top band. You can use your
NAQP CW contest module, but adjust your mults upward for any DX
countries worked outside North America and re-calculate your score. This
will be a good chance to practice for the NAQP CW on Saturday.
6. 10-10 International Summer Contest, SSB. 10M SSB. 48 hours of
weekend UTC time. Exchange: name + 10-10# (or "0" if you don't have
one) + SPC.
7. Straight Key Century Club Weekend Sprintathon (WES). 1200Z Sat to
2400Z Sun. Maximum operating time: 24 hours. 160-6M CW. Exchange: RST,
SPC, name, SKCC# or "NONE." Use a mechanical key. Bonus of 5 points
for every QSO you use while you are using a home made key. Look around
1820 kHz and 050 to 065 kHz on other bands. I think it is around 50090
on 6M.
8. FISTS Saturday Sprint. 1600-1800Z Saturday. 80-10M CW. 100W
maximum power. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, FISTS# or "0." Look around
058 kHz.
9. NCJ North American QSO Party, CW. 1800Z Sat to 0559Z Sun. Single
ops may operate only 10 or the 12 hours and off periods must be at least
30 minutes. (That means if you make your last QSO before a break at
2200Z, for example, you can't make your next QSO before 2231Z.) Mults
count per band. 160-10M CW. 100W max power. Exchange: Name + SPC
(only Name is required from stations outside North America, but your
logging program may require you to enter "DX.") There is a team
competition for teams from two to five members. Anyone wishing to be on
a SECC team should e-mail me immediately. This contest is simple and a
lot of fun. There is no high power category. Multi ops may operate as
a M/S or M/2 and can operate the whole 12 hours. Multi ops may not be
ona team.
10. ARRL 222 mHz and up Contest. 1800Z Sat to 1800Z Sun. 222 mHz and
higher bands, any mode.
11. 4 States QRP Group Second Sunday Sprint. 0000-0200Z Monday (Sunday
night local date). 160-10M CW, SSB. Exchange: RS(T) + SPC + 4S# or
power. Look for most activity on CW and on or near 14060, 7122, and
3564 kHz.
12. K1USN Slow Speed Test. 0000-0100Z Monday (Sunday night local
date). See # 5 above.
13. North American QRP CW Club (NAQCC) August Sprint. 0030-0230Z Wed
(Tuesday night local date). 20, 40, 80M CW. 5W max power. Exchange:
RST, SPC, NAQCC# or power. Double your score if you use a straight key.
1 1/2 your score if you use a bug or cootie. This one always has good
participation and can be a lot of fun. Try 20M first and move down to
40 and then to 80 as the period goes on.
14. CWOps Club CWT Tests. Every Wed/Thurs local date. Wed 1300Z,
1900Z and Thurs 0300Z and 0700Z. 160-10M CW. Four separate one-hour
tests. Exchange: Name + CWOps# or SPC. Look round 028-052 kHz on the
higher bands and up from 1815 kHz on 160M.
Hope everyone has a nice week and weekend. I will post the team
registrations for NAQP CW before the contest starts. Two weeks from
this weekend, NAQP SSB will be held and I will register teams for that
one. Let me know ASAP and whether you will be LP or QRP and how many
hours you hope to operate.
Look forward to having many of you attend the SECC Zoom meeting Monday
night. The program will be a presentation by WW4LL about the BeLoud
remote operating system.
73, John, K4BAI for SECC.
